About me...

Who I am, what I build with, and why this site exists.

Ahoy~!! I’m vereis~!!

I’m a Tech Lead at a startup building software for veterinarians. We’re trying to save vets time so they can focus on what they do best — helping animals.

My Background

I read Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence at the University of Kent, graduated in 2018. I’ve been working with Elixir and Erlang ever since.

Before university, I was a self-taught kid making terrible video games in GameMaker at seven years old. That’s where I learned the basics — very inefficiently, but it stuck.

I think of myself as a problem solver first. The language, the framework, the stack — those are tools. I’ve done frontend, backend, DevOps, game dev, embedded systems. Whatever gets the job done.

These days I mostly reach for Elixir and Erlang. They’re niche, and that’s part of why I like them.

Outside of code, I’m a huge foodie, a cook, and a self-proclaimed tea snob.

What I Build With

Here’s what I reach for when I’m building something.

This Website

This site is built with Phoenix LiveView and SQLite (via LiteFS) on fly.io, styled with Tailwind CSS.

The theme is painterly and a little wonky — I wanted it to feel soft, cute, imperfect, and human.

My goal is simple: a place to share thoughts, opinions, experiments, and whatever else I’m tinkering with. No ads, no analytics, no nonsense.

Feel free to poke around.
